Scholar, Policy Architect & Venerable Teacher
Prof. Prem Shanker Ram (Retd.) has dedicated more than three and a half decades to educational excellence at the Faculty of Education, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. Recognized as a pioneer in Special Education, he championed universal design for learning (UDL), assistive technology integration, and rehabilitation of children with sensory, cognitive, and physical impairments.
His distinguished academic stature earned him prestigious deputations and advisory appointments under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD, now Ministry of Education) and the Department of Women & Child Development (WCD). In these capacities, Prof. Ram spearheaded national curriculum adaptations for Children with Special Needs (CWSN), grassroot screening modules for Anganwadi workers, and early childhood protection frameworks.
Following his celebratory superannuation in June 2025 from BHU, Prof. Ram has rededicated his post-retirement life to the noble cause of free education, open mentorship, and student empowerment, ensuring that financial barriers never hinder talented scholars.
